1. How did you feel to finally the title World Professional
Champions? Becoming
the New World Professional Championship is a dream come true that Loraine and I
achieved together!
2. Where you pleased with your dancing? Loraine and I
were extremely pleased with our performance as we were extremely inspired and
motivated. It was probably one of our best performances ever!
3. There was not thread from any couple at all. Do you think you
will be able to successfully defend the title for many years? We are
extremely focused on keeping the same level of intensity on our development as
dancers and as performers. The motivation now is to became the best World
Champions ever and with our regime of inspired and motivated search for
more......, I am sure we will be able to defend our titles for many
years.
4. What did you think of the enormous dance
floor at the World Championship? On TV it was twice as long as
normal. Big dance floor suit our style of dancing as we are capable
of an extremely full motion that allow us to cover great space. The floor at the
World Championship was excellent as it allowed us to use our space awareness to
the full.
5. The competition was televised on the German TV. What do you
think of dancing on TV? Why is only Germany broadcasting dancing like it is a
normal sport? Television coverage is
excellent platform for advertisement and I am sure that more and more countries
will follow your steps.
6. Is your way of dancing different from that or the other
couples? Individualism is a very important
factor on the way to success, I feel that all the couples in the top ranking
have an individual way of expressing emotion and music. Every dancer has
different priorities and wants to send different messages.........
7. What makes it different? What makes our dancing
different.........I am sorry, but this is classified information!
8. Do you teach? Loraine's sister maybe? Loraine and I
love teaching, but while we compete we keep the teaching time to a minimum. Yes,
we do help Roberto and Michelle develop!!!
9. Can you describe what a normal day looks like for
you? Loraine and I wake up at about 9:00am, we have a regime of
exercises that allow us to awake the body in the correct manner then we have a
nutritious breakfast. The rest of our time table may vary, but it always
includes: private practice, develop our performance with a teacher or mentor,
public practice. Of course, the above events are divided during the day and
allowing for meals and resting time. To achieve a 100% focus it is crucial to
have a disciplined schedule. We like to have 1 day off every 5 days.
10. Do you make up your own routine? We make the major
decisions with regard to our choreography we two of our major teachers and as a
good team, we normally achieve great combinations!!
11. Your tango is so special. You are totally in control of your
body's. Is control the most important thing in dancing? Control is
certainly one of the most important things in dancing, but then again.......what
is control??
12. Did you learn Argentine Tango?
I never had lessons in Argentine Tango, but we have seen many Argentine
Tango performances that allowed us to incorporate the Argentine Tango feel in
our mechanics.
13. What is your favourite dance? Why? Loraine and I do
not have a "constant" favourite dance as every dance is beautiful with
is own distinctive character. Our mood decide the "favourite dance of the
day"!!
14. When you dance the Foxtrot you almost dance a complete basic
routine. Why you dance basic instead of some flashy new variations?
Foxtrot is pure and pure must be the all concept of the dance. Our
choreography in Foxtrot is quite complex, but due to our pure attitude and to
our respect for pure motion we can make every step look basic!
15. When we see you dance on TV, you really look tall, but I have
seen you in real life twice and you are not tall at all. Have you noticed
this? Many people have the impression of
Loraine and I been extremely tall, but I am 183cm. Unfortunately I cannot tell
you how we achieve it, as.......this is an other classified information!!
16. Can you tell us a little more about yourself: full name, place
of birth, birthday, years of dancing, number of brothers/sisters, city where you
live now, hobby's besides dancing, favourite music..... Luca and
Loraine Baricchi...., we do not have middle names!! I was born in Reggio Emilia
which is situated on the north of Italy, Loraine was born in Dublin. My birthday
is July 4th and Loraine's December 10th, please note that the World Championship
was held on the 11th of December.............. We have both been dancing for
circa 22 years and we have been living together in London for the past 7 . I am
an only child, while Loraine has two sisters and one brother....., only Michelle
followed Loraine in the dancing world! Due to our intense schedule, we do not
have much time to dedicate to hobbies, but I guess that Loraine loves shopping
and I love driving my yellow Ferrari!! We enjoy all type of music depending from
the emotions that we want to experience, but I really love Cuban music like
Buena Vista and Italian music from Boccelli, Loraine enjoys easy listening Jazz
and Pop music in general....
17. This is the second interview that we have. When I ask you for
an interview, you reply so friendly. Do you do many interviews? Thank
you for the kind words...., we enjoy interviews as they give us the opportunity
to share our feeling and emotions with other human beings!
18. Are fans important to you? Certainly!
19. What do you think of the rule that only the two couples of a
country can compete at the world and european championship? Isn't unfair to
couples from strong countries like Italy and England. I guess that
sometime it can be slightly unfair for the number 3 or 4 couple....., but surely
this selection system gives the couples even a greater motivation to develop the
performance so to reach the number 1or 2 ranking!!
20. Finally, can you tell us what it takes to become the World
Professional Champion? What does it take to become the World
Professional Champions........., how long do you have ?!
Here is a
"list" of the many factors there are needed to became a World
Champion:
1. With not doubts talent, without talent it is not possible to
excel.
2. Focus and motivation, talent must be developed with intense work!
3. Dedication to discover the perfect mechanics...., perfect mechanics is
the vehicle that is needed to produce inspired performances.
4. A perfect
partner, not only the partner must be capable to excel, but it is essential to
find an harmonised atmosphere where both can express opinions and work together
on the development........., this is certainly what Loraine and I are capable of
achieving, as we motivate each other to search for more and more and
more........
5. A good combination of teachers that cover different aspect
of the development and that keep the inspiration alive.
6. Believe in your
potential, so never stop pushing yourself further. This list could continue
forever, but.......... I cannot give you all my secrets!! I
