1. Spiral Turn:

A turn which takes place after a forward step. With weight on the front foot a turn toward the free foot is made. The free leg then bends and wraps around the standing leg as one or more turns are completed.

2. Spot Turn:

(1) In International Latin, a turn in which a step is taken across, one half turn is made, the weight is replaced to the original foot, and the turn is completed with the amount of rotation necessary to commence the next pattern. (Known in American Rhythm as a Walkaround Turn).

(2) In American Rhythm, a step in closed position in which one partner walks forward in a tight circle, while the other partner moves back out of the way by hooking one foot behind the other, and stepping side alternately. (Known in International Latin as a Natural Top.)

3. Hip Twist: An action, such as a swivel or change of weight, accompanied by a pronounced Latin-style hip movement.

4. others

Swivel: The action of turning on a weighted foot. (in a Standard Ballroom)

Heel-Ball Twist Turn: A type of Twist Turn taken with the weight distributed equally between feet, on the heel of one foot, and the ball of the other. The turn is executed by crossing one foot either in front of or behind the other, and then twisting in the direction of the forward foot. When the turn is complete, the feet will have closed into first position, having turned approximately 3/4 of a full turn. (like in Natural Twist Turn in International Tango).
